Listen to Avante Black’s new single Make A Mess

Swedish singer-songwriter Ottilia Zimmerman Kjulsten – or, to you and I, Avante Black – has a very good song on her hands with Make a Mess which was produced by Clor founding member Luke Smith (Slow Club, Depeche Mode). At the heart of the lyrics lies an acutely alert post-break up pop narrative, that steers well clear of saccharine. “Two years in to twenty, I need more – I am not the person that you knew before” knowingly sings the young Swede with unsweetened purity and underplayed grit. But what sets Make A Mess apart from other Scandinavian sadbangers is its atmospheric soundscape of swirling snares and psychedelic guitar loops which Kjulsten effortlessly navigates. This is one song where the repeat button comes in very handy.
