KINDS are a UK duo made up of Mark Morrish and Karen Warner whose new single Turn It Out is a blissful blend of slinky R&B vocals and airy mid-tempo keys, snares and snaps. Self-written and produced, the catchy track serves as a taster for what to expect from KINDS’ upcoming free live show at Birthdays in Dalston (London). If you’re about, they’ll be kicking things off next Wednesday (7 September) with support from Albert Gold and Digerati.
“The song’s coming from a very dark place,” KINDS say about their follow up to Hands Up which came out back at the start of the year. It’s about dealing with certain events and emotions in our lives to create something empowering and uplifting. We wanted to replicate this with the emotion in the lyrics and instrumentation in the verses, set against the heavy rhythms with optimism shining through in chorus.
“Instead of immersing ourselves in this dark state we wanted to create a song with a level of optimism, set against these negative thoughts and experiences.”
