LeAnn Rimes is back with a new record deal and a heartstring-pulling, strings-backed country cover of Brandi Carlile’s 2007 single The Story which is taken from the powerhouse songstress’ upcoming sixteenth studio album.
“The Story is a song that resonates with me as WE are all a part of one collective, universal story,” says LeAnn who broke records in 1997 with the huge commercial success of How Do I Live and went on to top the UK singles chart in 2000 with her Coyote Ugly soundtrack theme Can’t Fight The Moonlight.
“I fully embrace the journey I am on and have a deeper understanding of how every piece of my story serves a purpose in my evolution as a woman and an artist. This song is not only a love song but a song of self-acceptance and appreciation for life.”
The Story marks a renewed lease of life for the double Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter who signed an international record deal with RCA Records at the end of 2015. LeAnn’s last studio album Spitfire came out in 2013, and featured the singles Borrowed and Gasoline and Matches but it’s been a decade since she was last in the UK Top 40 with the stunning heartbreak ballad And It Feels Like.
The Story received its premiere on Ken Bruce’s Radio 2 show earlier today but you can stream the song via Spotify below.
