Formerly known as The Mispers, British band Junior Empire sound more than ready to make a big impression on the music industry with this cracking debut single released under their new stage name.
West Coast is not inspired by childhood holidays in Wales or Cornwall, but instead by their first time settling on the West Coast in the States. Resplendent with hazily, filtered melodies, woozy hooks and sun-washed harmonies, the carefree track conjures up all kinds of dreamy Calfornian vibes making it the perfect soundtrack accompaniment for cruising down the open highway with the windows down.
“We wrote this one about our first time living in LA,” the band posted on Facebook. “Open roads and the underlying feeling that nothing is permanent and a vacuous future of endless opportunity awaits. In other words when uve just become single (sigh)”.
West Coast is the only song we could find online from the London-based fivesome – Jack, Joey, Diego, Hannah and Jordan – but, judging by this one commanding track alone, we have a sneaky feeling that these guys could be huge.
