Jesse Young has been recording music in various guises for a fair few years but the debut single from his latest project Palisades Drive sees him turning his hand to synthpop and weaving in the influences on his current playlists such as St. Lucia, Panama Wedding and Great Good Fine Ok; a fine assemble of some of America’s most underrated bands in that particular genre. Part Time Rock Star not only sonically breathes the 80s-elevating electropop game though. Lyrically, it reflects the challenges of the vast majority of independent musicians who have to juggle their passion for making music around the 9-5 routine. Not with any sulkiness or hardship but instead with a playful, tongue-in-cheek approach, perhaps best summed up by the emphasis that he places on the fact that he’s living his dream.
