FRENSHIP with Emily Warren – Capsize

Well, this is a beaut of a collaboration between LA duo FRENSHIP (aka Brett Hite and James Sunderland) and singer-songwriter Emily Warren; the latter a familiar name on the credits of songs she has had a hand in writing for Fifth Harmony, Jessie J, 5 Seconds of Summer and Shawn Mendes.

Capsize was influenced by a message that Warren’s grandmother left on her voicemail, an excerpt of which you can hear at the end of the track, and it’s the kind of head turning trop-bop that takes mere moments to grab your attention, and seems preordained for radio.

“We write songs with really only one main criteria which is…’does this feel honest?” say FRENSHIP about their second single. “This song is living proof, as the chorus meant something very different to all three of us so we each wrote about something different in the two verses, ironically that is the version that felt the most truthful and cohesive in the end.”

Wonderful.
