Judging by this new song from Rachel Platten’s upcoming major label debut album Wildfire, the American singer-songwriter seems intent on positioning herself as one of pop’s most perpetually optimistic singers. But, when the formula isn’t broken, there’d have to be a pretty strong argument for someone who almost accidentally stumbled on to fame, to change what’s suddenly started working three albums down the line.
Better Place is all about finding yourself in a positive spot thanks to the support of loved ones. It’s all very sincere, pretty and totally inoffensive. It also seems quite simple really with its charm offensive lyrics and piano and strings accompaniment, but that’s perhaps where its beauty lies. As per her previous releases, Fight Song and Stand By You, the breakthrough star lets the lyrics do the talking.
Wildfire comes out 1 January, whilst Rachel will kick start a tour supporting the album on 29 February in Dallas, Texas.
