With Great Good Fine Ok and Panama Wedding about to take their shimmering electro sounds out on a North American tour with fellow synth stylists Scavenger Hunt, the two bands have teamed up to record a cover of Philip Bailey and Phil Collins’ 1984 UK #1 hit Easy Lover.
“We’ve been friends for a while now and the thought of collaborating together on something was always there,” explains Peter Kirk, frontman of Panama Wedding who have just released their second EP In Focus. “When Luke Moellman and Jon Sandler [Great Good Fine OK] hit me up about doing a cover of Easy Lover, I knew it would be a perfect fit.”
“In a lot of ways its the perfect cover for us to do together, because Peter and Jon’s voices work really well singing Phil and Philip’s parts,” Luke from GGFO told Idolator who premiered the collaboration earlier this week. “I wanted to keep the drive and intensity of the original but put it in a more modern sonic context. The production ended up sounding like a French electro-house-meets-Dr. Luke spin on the original.”
