Earlier this month Australian duo Strange Talk revealed all in an insightful interview about one of the toughest years they’ve experienced as a band.
The past 12 months have seen founding duo Stephen Docker and Gerard Sidhu parting ways with two members of their band to return to their original line up, picking up the reins to manage their own career, and successfully steering their sound away from the more mainstream pop that featured on Strange Talk’s (very enjoyable) 2014 debut album Cast Away, to embrace their love of all things electronica.
Challenges confronted, the duo now face a fresh start but with a US tour set to kick off in Autumn and a brand new EP, quite appropriately titled E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N, out this week via Wind-up Records, they sound reenergised and more ready to go than ever.
“E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N tells the story of our journey over the last few years and where we are as artists,” Gerard told Billboard earlier this week. “We wanted to evolve our sound and take a more electronic direction, and we’re passionate about the new music we’re creating.
“We’ve never been more driven about our music as we are now and we hope that’s evident in the songs, the art and the videos, and our live show” he adds.
