It’s been just two years since the 29 year old Aucklander scored a breakout hit with her debut single Bones; a song that peaked at #1 in her homeland in 2013, and reached #40 on Billboard’s Adult chart. Since then, she’s been signed to US label Epic Records, added a second New Zealand chart-topper to her tally (the Stan Walker duet, Holding On) and penned songs for Christina Aguilera, Adam Lambert and Nicole Scherzinger. Not bad at all for a relative newbie.
Ginny is now gearing up for the release of her debut studio album Over The Moon which will be released on 20 November and, as well as featuring Empire State of Mind helm Shux, also promises collaborations with Rob Wells, Aeon Manahan and Alan Nglish.
“Under My Feet is a shameless love song,” she explains about the record’s latest cut. “It is about two people who are forever linked to each other, no matter where they are in the world.”
An uplifting sentiment, and one that’s matched by Blackmore’s warm, nuanced vocals which are layered over a backdrop of tempo-shifting percussion beats, allowing her to showcase the full scope of her effortless and impressive range.
A terrific pop turn indeed and one that leaves us very excited for her upcoming album.
