The bubbling, deep house track received its first play on Ken Bruce’s BBC Radio 2 show last month and will be released in the UK on 16 October as the second single from Alesha’s upcoming album Do It For Love.
Tallest Girl was written by the singer with Blur’s Alex James and Harry Sommerdahl, the same team behind the record’s lead cut The Way We Are, and it sees the Britain’s Got Talent judge revisiting the MC skills that elevated her former group Mis-Teeq to chart glory in the early ’00s.
“For such a long time I’ve had people asking if I’m gonna do that again,” she told the Official Charts Company in an interview earlier this year. “Putting it on the record felt really authentic and not too forced, it fits in really nicely with the style of music I’ve chosen.
“When I go home and play those tracks to my friends they’re like ‘Yes! That’s the you we love’. I know that’s a side of me that people remember from back in the day – it’s time to resurface the MC!”
