Listen to Grace Mitchell’s compelling Raceday EP closer Bae feat. Spri Noir:

Grace Mitchell’s Runaway was one of our favourite tracks of last year, so the return of the Portland-born newcomer has been something we’ve long been anticipating.

Now signed to Republic Records, the teenage singer has just put out her second EP Raceday, the follow up to last year’s Design, and this week Zane Lowe featured her brilliant new pop number Jitter on his Beats 1 radio show. See Popjustice for details on that one.

For us though, it’s EP closer Bae that makes an even bigger impact. Featuring guest vocals from French-speaking hip-hop artist Spri Noir (translated as Black Spirit), the stirring ballad places Grace’s floating vocals over a a sea of pulsating, ambient electronics, whilst Spri’s rap verses prove that, when the sound is this compelling, language knows absolutely no barriers.
