I first featured this single back in October 2013 when Massachusetts three piece Wet were still in the infant stages of their career but, since then, the trio have gone on to sign a deal with Columbia Records and build a hefty fan base which was boosted further by the acclaim received for their most recent release Deadwater.
This re-recorded version of You’re The Best layers lead singer Kelly Zutrau’s vulnerable vocals over Joe Valle and Marty Sulkow’s stripped-back, oscillating instrumentals and the result is a mesmerising blend of sparse, guitar-washed electropop that’s bang on trend and sure to continue their upwards trajectory.
Wet today premiered a new video for the track which originally featured on their self-titled debut EP, released last April and available to download here.
“We’ve been skating a lot in our town because there’s not too much to do at night. One night we were just at the mall skating and I took a video of Joe doing a trick and we realized it would make the perfect video for “You’re The Best,” says Kelly about the clip.
You’re The Best is also set to appear on Wet’s upcoming debut album Don’t You which will come out later this year via Columbia Records.
