Where I Belong was written by Kodaline and the combination of strong harmonies and a rousing, singalong chorus – delivered of course by a bunch of good looking guys that girls will swoon over – propelled the love song to #1 one upon its release in Ireland last December.
In doing so, they not only beat off competition from Ed Sheeran and One Direction, but Where I Belong also became the fastest selling single ever by a debut act in Ireland. Then, as if to prove that it wasn’t a one off, HomeTown’s second single Cry For Help matched the chart peak of its predecessor, adding a second Irish chart-topper to the boys’ tally in March.
According to their manager Louis Walsh, Brendan, Cian, Dayl, Dean, Josh and Ryan will be as big as Westlife, and are Ireland’s answer to Take That. Bold, early claims but, following HomeTown’s success in their homeland and an ever increasing online fan base bolstered by high profile tour slots supporting Olly Murs and The Vamps, it looks like Louis is right and he finally has another winner on his hands.
Where I Belong is out now but will impact officially on 4 September.
