American musician Luis DuBuc, the brainchild behind indie electro outfit Mystery Skulls, has premiered the official music video for his single Magic.
The uptempo electro-disco track sees the L.A.-based former frontman of The Secret Handshake teaming up with R&B chanteuse Brandy and funk legend Nile Rodgers, and is taken from Mystery Skulls’ last studio album Forever which was released last October.
Referring to his time in the studio with the Chic guitarist, DuBuc said that it was “super surreal“.
“Nile heard my songs from someone and he called me,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “He was like, “I really like your music, and I want to meet you.” […] I went and hung out with him, and then we got in the studio the next day, and we worked on a bunch of stuff. That’s where ‘Magic’ came from. It was crazy, but it was amazing and a really great song came out of the whole thing.”
And it’s not the only track from the album to feature Full Moon songstress and I Still Know What You Did Last Summer scream queen Brandy either. The singer specifically asked to sing on Magic after hearing it in the studio when she was laying down vocals for another cut from the album called Number One explains DuBuc. “It was so natural and felt almost meant-to-be,“.
Magic is currently being given away as a free download via Mystery Skulls’ official website in exchange for signing up to their mailing list. You can catch the gold-drenched CGI clip below or download Forever from iTunes here.
