New York duo MS MR have added two new remixes to their ever burgeoning catalogue of reworkings, this time taking on the latest singles from Paloma Faith and Betty Who.
First up is the Diane Warren-penned ballad Only Love Can Hurt Like This which is currently riding high on the UK Top 40 as the second cut from Brit singer Paloma Faith’s third studio album A Perfect Contradiction. Sprinkling some added layers of synths and subtle electronic beats into the pot, the MS MR remix only enhances what is already one of the finest singles of the British singer’s career so far.
Aussie singer Betty Who meanwhile stormed to the top of the US iTunes chart last month with the release of her second EP Slow Dancing, and its lead cut Heartbreak Dream is, in its original form, an utterly euphoric pop number that recaptures the magic of Katy Perry’s Teenage Dreams.
Its transformation at the hands of Liz Plapinger and Max Hershenow is therefore the most strikingly different of the two new remixes, undergoing a heavier, more downbeat electronic treatment but yet remaining a resiliently brilliant number thanks to the 22 year old Sydney-born singer’s irrepressible vocals and lyrics.
