On April 15 2011, Scream 4 will hit cinemas in the UK. If successful, it’s no secret that this will be the start of another trilogy. Once again, Wes Craven returns to the director’s chair, joined by original franchaise members, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette. Kevin Williamson also makes a welcome return to writing duties, having taken a break from Scream 3.
New potential fodder for Mr Ghostface include Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin, Adam Brody, Marley Shelton and Erik Knudsen, whilst we’re also promised cameos from Anna Paquin and Kristen Bell. Although it would be foolish to assume they’ll make it past the infamous opening sequence!
There will be new rules to truly plant the movie in the 21st century – virgins can die, the unexpected is the new cliche, death on film…And surely it wouldn’t be a Scream movie, without the self referencing of it’s predecessors and other films in the horror mainstream?
The trailer looks awesome (click on Scream 4) – definitely the movie I am most excited about seeing in 2011. Let me know what you think…
